I am extending my warmest greeting to OMASC coterie. My interest to become a lawyer was triggered by the needs and clamour of our kababayans hear in Oriental Mindoro. After finishing BS in Commerce in 1999, I found myself unsatisfied with the prerogative of getting a job and be content for the benefit of it financially or professionally. When I was hired by the Mindoro Assistance for Human Advancement thru Linkages, Inc. as Accounting Clerk in 2001 and as Community Facilitator in 2004, I was moved by the present condition of some of our poor and needy kababayans. I was born poor and that is the reason why I understand their longings. If not through the support of the OMASC I couldn't have earned a formal college education. The reason why I posted this message in your website's guestbook is that I want to look for another opportunity of a scholarship grant. If OMASC will respond positively then I would be grateful. And if no,t I pray that you will recommend me another choices to choose from. Anyway, I would welcome your suggestions that will give me a heart to push through with my plans. I am now dedicating myself for service to the humanity and to act as their advocate someday, will be my great act of honor. I am also informing you that I am now working for a book entitled MGA BATANG WALANG TSINELAS. A book will contain poems, essays and short stories portraying the travails of a child in world marred by the proliferation of evil. God bless, good health to all of you. MAC MASAGCA |

Hello Tita Mila! I received your reply this morning for the message I recently posted at OMASC website. I am working now as Planning Assistant at the Office of the Municipal Planning & Development Coordinator here in Victoria, Oriental Mindoro. We were 4 scholarship holders of this association but one of us did not completed his course. Jenny Villena is now a professional teacher. She is now teaching at one of the public high schools in Naujan. The last time we met she told me she was at Barcenaga National High School (I forgot the exact name of the school).Martin Atienza is a licensed civil engineer and now working at the Municipal Government of Naujan. I still look forward to earning another degree and I prefering to proceed to Bachelor of Laws since I am a graduate of pre-law course. I hope and pray for another scholarship opportunities from amicable institutions like yours to walk through this dream. Anyway, I am also extending my regards to Tito Hermie Maramot and the rest of OMASC officers and staff. I am wishing for a time that i could meet you all in person (or at least 5 of you). Thank you once again for your committed service to our fellow Mindorenos and I am so lucky that I once a beneficiary of your priceless thrust. God bless you all! |

Good Day! I am a municipality councilor of Baco, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines. our Municipality is a 4th class municipality and cannot afford to provide excellent health services townwide, that even basic medicines and gadgets for maintenance of health in our town, our municipality cannot provide enough for the town. Many people in our town are dependent on herbs for medication because they do not have money to buy medicines. i believe that if our municipality cannot provide enough good health services because of lack of funds, we can reach out and ask for help. through my surfing at the net, i was led to your site. I found out that your association do extend some help to less fortunate.I also heard from our kababayan the virtues of your association. We are also thankful that our municipality has once been chosen to be a recepient of your association in years ago. It is our honor that you consider our municipality to be a recepient of your help. your help to the municipality will uplift the health wealth of the people here. I pray that you will give time for this dream of our municipality. thank you. |

| A Blessed and Peaceful New Year to all our kababayans in California especially to the officers and members of OMASC. Here's something which I believe is worth sharing with you--an opportunity for you to be advocates and nurturers of priestly vocations for our local church in Mindoro. The Acoustic Gospel Concert of Rev. Fr. Mimo Perez [who hails from Baco and is now the Spiritual Director in our Theology Seminary in Tagaytay] will definitely push through. This is meant both as an Easter fellowship activity for Filipinos in the US and a fund campaign in support of seminary formation. As of this date, the said event will be staged on April 19, 6 pm, at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit, Techny, Illinois, and on April 26, 7 pm, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Glassboro, New Jersey. For more informations, you may contact Weng Cosico (773-4037549) and Jess Deniega (773-4181033) in Chicago and Rev. Fr. Danny Quiray (609-2719154) in NJ. This same event may also be held in California-- Los Angeles, Lancaster, San Francisco between March 24-April 6 and in New York in the first week of May. We're still praying for the gift of kindhearted souls in these areas with whom we could collaborate to realize this noble project. IF YOU'RE WILLING, JUST LET US KNOW! For LA, Bishop Oscar Solis, the episcopal vicar for migrants of the Archdiocese, already expressed his commitment to support the project; in fact, he is offering his office to be the venue for planning and meetings. For New York, we're counting on the support of United Mindoro International, Inc. headed by Tita Juliet Payabyab. Prior to these dates, Fr. Mimo, myself and two other priests from Calapan will celebrate the Holy Eucharist and conduct fund campaigns for the seminary in the parish churches of St. Bridget, Our Lady of Las Vegas and Martin Luther King in Las Vegas on March 16 Palm Sunday and during the Holy Week. For details, you may contact Rev. Fr. Rey Salditos (702-3353205). To all our kababayans, we appeal for your invaluable assistance! May God bless you and your families. | |||

| MS EDITH NEWSBITS +639209319346/ +639175620281 edith_gp@yahoo.com The department of environment and natural resources (denr) is now pushing for the revitalization of mining industry in the country in line with the national governments thrust to promote the said industry here. But this time, the environment vowed to involve the country’s local government units (lgu’s) by working closely with the latter. A top official of denr in oriental mindoro stated that mindoro should follow the example of palawan which supports mining industry but the same time, strictly protecting the natural resources. Penro raymundo crisostomo told that mining per se is not synonymous to environmental degradation. Not necessarily copying it, penro said that mindorenos should emulate what palawenos did in their province. (Remember sangguniang panlalawigan passed a 25 years mining moratorium … how our lgu will act on it?) President gloria macapagal arroyo has expressed optimism that mindoro is on its way to industrialization as she commended the efforts of its political leaders to transform the province into another economic center in southern tagalong region, by encouraging more investors to pour in fresh capital. The country’s chief executive made this positive forecast a year ago in her speech during the three day oriental mindoro investment summit held at calapan city , which was attended by 150 leaders from the national and local government as well as the private sector. (again, the oriental mindoro summit coordinators are planning to have another investment summit this year...) | |||

If it's ok with you, may I know your email address so I could send you informations about our undertakings in support of priestly vocations including the planned staging of Fr. Mimo Perez' Acoustic Gospel Recollection-Concerts in the US. As of this time, we are also coordinating with Bishop Oscar Solis, an alumnus of our major seminary in Tagaytay, now based in the Archdiocese of L.A., to solicit his assistance in order that this spiritual-musical event could be held even in parishes where Filipinos usually gather. Again, thank you po, and God bless. | |||

| My Greetings to all kababayans especially to the officers and members of OMASC. I'm Fr. Andy Magtibay Lubi of Calapan [anak po ako ni Rosie at pamangkin ni Lulu Magtibay], a graduate of HIA (Elementary batch '81) presently serving as Rector and Dean of Studies of St. Augustine Seminary in Suqui, Calapan. I believe your group is helping our seminarians a lot through the initiatives of Mam Eleonor who facilitated the collection and transport of vuluminous mass of books for our seminary's library. Thank you very much po! We hope and pray that you will continually be advocates of priestly vocations for Mindoro. We're planning to visit the US, April-May next year [Easter season], and stage a series of recollection-concerts with Fr. Mimo Perez, also a diocesan priest from Baco, who has been into a kind of "spiritual-music ministry" with previous performances in Rome, Canada and various parts of the Philippines. I will again get in touch with you soon to solicit your support and see the possibility for our Mindoreno kababayans in the US to host and/or sponsor this noble activity. God bless you all! | |||

| Hi everyone, Thank you for your entries on our guest book. However, I wanted to stress the fact that this Assoc. was started 14 years ago by a group of people, most of them are still active, supportive and dedicated to the Assoc. Eddie and I started getting involved in 2003 and since then had fun working with them and have immensely enjoyed their friendship. Eleanor | |||
